Month to 30 September 2021

 

PIP announced an unaudited net asset value ("NAV") per share as at 30 September 2021 of 3,960.1p, an increase of 76.6p (+2.0%) from the NAV per share as at 31 August 2021.

In the month to 30 September 2021, valuation gains* added +12.1p (+0.3%), investment income* added +6.4p (+0.2%), foreign exchange movements* were +62.4p (+1.6%), share buybacks added +0.6p (+0.0%) and expenses and taxes**** were -4.9p (-0.1%).

PIP's valuation policy for private equity funds is based on the latest valuations reported by the managers of the funds in which PIP has holdings. In the case of PIP's valuation as at 30 September 2021, 98% of reported valuations are dated 30 June 2021 or later, and 2% are dated 31 March 2021.

At 30 September 2021, PIP's private equity assets stood at £1,968m, whilst net available cash balances^ were £224m. The Asset Linked Note^^ ("ALN") outstanding as at 30 September 2021 amounted to £52m. Undrawn commitments to investments stood at £635m as at 30 September 2021, calculated using exchange rates at that date. PIP's multi-currency revolving credit facilities comprise a US$269.8m facility and a €101.6m facility, which remained undrawn as at the month end.

New Commitments

PIP committed £71.5m during the month to two secondaries (£60.1m) and three co-investments (£11.4m). This included:

 

·    A £55.6m ($75.0m) top up commitment to the Pantheon Secondaries Opportunities Fund, bringing PIP's total commitment to £166.5m ($225.0m).

·    A £5.5m co-investment alongside Apax Partners SA in Destiny, a European provider of Unified Communications-as-a-Service solutions.

·    A £2.4m co-investment alongside Hg in Riskalyze, a US provider of risk management software for financial advisers.

 

Share Buybacks

PIP invested £1.2m in share buybacks during the period, acquiring 40,000 shares at a weighted average price of 2,990.3p per share. This price represented a discount of 23% to the NAV per share as at 31 August 2021.
